CES 2010 – All systems go
It’s funny in Vegas, without windows and clocks anywhere, you can spend a whole lot of time indoors without any idea of what time of the day it is. When you finally walk outside you are shocked to find a beautiful day with blinding sunlight…
and then you go straight back indoors.
Anyway, finally everything at The Venetian came together and the show opened as scheduled. With audiophiles queueing to the unbelievably fast lifts, bottled water that doubled in price since the day before and loads of brilliant sounding systems playing good music there was a really nice buzz.
It was busy all day in the stylish Engstrom & Engstrom room and as promised, here are some more pics.
Brand new The Lars XLS amplifier in walnut finish. It delivers 36W in 8 Ohm.
Bladelius Embla CD/Media player on Rock Solid’s brand new audio furniture. Cables from Bertrand as well as a second digital source from Holm Acoustics.
Our Coltrane Soprano with The Lars – a splendid combination.
Another splendid combination. We caught the last rays of sunlight in the Cary room.
CAD 211 Founders Edition monoblock power amplifier.
Two piece pure balanced pre-amplifier SLP 05 from Cary Audio.
We’ll be back tomorrow with more CES stuff.

Absolutely beautiful! I wish to be there! =)
“Bladelius Embla CD/Media player on Rock Solid’s brand new audio furniture. Cables from Bertrand as well as a second digital source from Holm Acoustics”
The audio furniture – rack / stand looks impressive – can I get some more details about it ? web site ?
The Cable used was ‘Bertram’ from Denmark – very nice cables made by Soren Bertram – rather expensive – but well built & good sounding – Proxima II is what was used.
The Lars – Sweden – Timo & Mr. Lars – what a product;
Superb sounding.
If only it were cheaper…..
Holm is a great product – I have used it @ my place.
Needs its D to A section ‘upgraded’ or just provide a digital out – after the room / speaker correction has been performed. Will be a good product / tool if it could operate @ 24/192. Currently it is @ 24/96 – I think. So all hi rez files cannot be ‘worked on’ !
just my 2 cents.
Great picture quality.
This is a room I really wanted to listen to…
Well done – Marten !
