Olofsson’s return to Taiwan

17th February 2025

For the first time in ten years, our Founder and Chief Designer, Leif Olofsson, visited Taiwan, accompanied by our CEO (and brother), Jörgen Olofsson. This long-awaited visit coincided with the 2024 Taipei International Audio Show, allowing Leif to reconnect with the local audio community and discuss Marten’s latest innovations.

During his visit, Leif spoke with industry professionals, audio enthusiasts, and members of the press, including renowned audio journalist Tao Zhonghao of Audio Forum. Their conversation covered Marten’s latest developments, the evolution of speaker technology, and the importance of precise engineering in high-end audio. The discussion also touched on Leif’s design philosophy and his commitment to achieving the most natural sound reproduction possible.

Leif’s passion for sound design has always been rooted in a deep appreciation for natural musical reproduction. His philosophy is to create speakers that preserve the authenticity of a recording, allowing listeners to experience music as it was intended. This drive for innovation and sonic fidelity is what has shaped Marten’s approach to speaker design over the years.

One of the key topics was Marten’s commitment to first-order crossovers, which enable precise time and phase alignment for a natural and immersive soundstage. Leif also highlighted the advancements in convex diaphragm technology used in the Coltrane Quintet, improving driver responsiveness and sound clarity.

Marten uses custom drivers to achieve the highest level of precision and performance. Standard off-the-shelf drivers do not meet the strict requirements needed for first-order crossovers, so Marten collaborates with top manufacturers to develop tailor-made solutions that ensure seamless integration and optimal sound reproduction.

Looking ahead, Marten is developing a 3-inch diamond midrange driver—an ambitious project that could redefine high-end speaker performance. A 7-inch beryllium driver is also in the works, with more details set to be revealed at High End Munich 2025.
