Liu Hansheng’s Take on Coltrane Quintet SE

We love hearing honest feedback from people who experience our speakers, and Liu Hansheng of AudioNet Taiwan had some wonderful things to say about Coltrane Quintet SE.

“There are substantial differences between Coltrane Quintet SE and Coltrane 3,” Hansheng notes, recognising how each model brings something unique to the table. One of our favourite comments was his admiration for the craftsmanship:

“Just thinking about the fact that layers of carbon fiber are laminated and formed according to the mold, and then finely polished to create such a delicate surface that even a fly can't stand on it, I can't help but want to buy it.”

When it came to performance, he was particularly impressed with the speaker’s handling of bass, saying: “The low frequencies can be reproduced very deep, very fierce, very soft, very powerful, and fully present various low-frequency effects in the recording.”

Hansheng also highlighted the precision of our design:

“To be honest, the performance of the five drivers used by Coltrane Quintet SE can be said to be at its peak, and the first-order crossover network method used inside it has also reached the top of the passive crossover.”

One moment that really struck us was his comment:

“Marten Coltrane Quintet SE is undoubtedly a pair of excellent speakers in all aspects, whether it is appearance, workmanship or sound performance, it has been almost impeccable. While listening to it, I felt like I was immersed in a wonderful life experience rather than writing a review of equipment.”

Hansheng’s music selection for this review was as interesting and diverse as his feedback. He used tracks such as “Bubbles” from Wandering by Yosi Horikawa, “Soli2de” from Reference Recordings II by Emiel Scholsberg, “Convergence” by Malia and Boris Blank, and “Sister Rosetta Goes Before Us” from Raising Sand by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss. We admire his thoughtful choices, which reflect a broad range of musical styles and really put the Quintet SE through its paces. We enjoyed listening to these tracks ourselves and suggest you check them out.
